Poetry: I am Nobody’s N***er

Check out this poem by UK poet and spoken word artist Dean Atta entitled ‘I Am Nobody’s N***er.’ The poem penned in the wake of the Stephen Lawrence trial addresses the use of the N–Word and asserts that it cannot be reclaimed. The poet thought-provokingly addresses the use of the term in pop culture, especially Hip-Hop music, name-checking rap artists Jay-Z and Kanye West. The poem which has been acclaimed by many in the including Labour MP David Lammy is being sold on iTunes, with proceeds going to the Stephen Lawrence Foundation. Check out the video for the poem!
