Hi Authentic Chick,

I have four children by one gentleman and another two by another gentleman. The father of my first set of children has died. The other gentleman is not owning up to his responsibilities and I am planning to take him to court. He promised that he is going to beat me if I take him to court. Should I still go through with my plans?

 Hopeful,

Hopewell, Jamaica

Dear Hopeful from the village of Hopewell!

I am not sure how old you are but six children are definitely a good household. I know that you probably have lots of things going on in that head. Some things to consider are the educating of your children, food and clothing and accommodation. Maybe you have those things sorted already. If so, good for you. If not, you would need to seek help in your country. For instance, you may need to go and speak with a Counsellor and let them assist you in planning for all the children.

I am sorry to hear that the father of your first set of children has died. So sad. Now concerning the next gentleman, if he is not willing to shoulder his responsibilities, then by all means, take him to court. What? He has promised to beat you? You mean, like really hitting you? This is a threat. If I were you, I would report him to the nearest police. Then I will go to seek additional counselling on how best to proceed and protect yourself as best as you can. I will advise that you should still go through with your plans of taking him to Family Court.  What a man!!! I wish you every success.

Ta, Ta…
