Soca star Machel Montano has taken soca music to the residence of the US President, The White House in Washington, D.C.
Montano joined other Caribbean artistes at a conference on the impact of Caribbean Culture on America, on Wednesday.
Montano, who is considered the country’s leading soca artiste, posted three pictures on his Instagram account, followed by a video of him performing one of his songs, “Dance With You”.
In the first post he says: “Finally made it to the Whitehouse today to represent Soca music! The impact of Caribbean Culture on America.”
Another post shows Montano seated with three other artistes of Caribbean origin, captioned “Honored to serve on a Panel of Caribbean Musicians today for The Caribbean Heritage Month White House Briefing”.
He captioned the video post below, “we wine at the Whitehouse tonight”.
Another local musical genius, Etienne Charles, T&T’s premier jazz performer was also on the panel and performed with Montano on the trumpet during the short performance.
