Life Sucks…! Episode 10 – She Laughed At Me!

By now you can probably see the trend in my early life with things going wrong almost with predictability! Me being left with EC.50 change from the last EC.00 I had to feed me for a week was very painful especially as the cause was not entirely my fault…or so I thought. You see, being secretly in love with a beautiful girl at 12 years old clouds all judgement and at the time spending my entire week’s allowance on the apple of my eye just seemed like a good idea especially as I had no friends and no one to tell me I was about to make a mistake.

Anyway, I got the order for the girls and hurried back to where we were all sitting only to find Stephan, sitting between them. If it were any other guy I probably wouldn’t have been so shaken and disappointed. But Stephan was no ordinary guy, he was basically a guy’s guy, a hunk, a junior super star with grades to match, who was admired by just about every girl at school and there were a lot of girls at that school!

The first response was biological, I felt my stomach churn and two seconds later an involuntary fart shot out as I made what seemed like the journey of my short life back to the table. I tried everything within my being to look normal, ‘unphased’ and even comfortable by his presence.

It obviously didn’t work because, as soon as I got to the table he blurted out, ‘What’s up Bruno…what you got there?’ Now you need to understand my name is Brian and back then Bruno was the name that was given to someone generally regarded as a stooge, a lackey, a push over…phrases I worked hard to avoid getting stuck to me!

For a split second I thought Angel would have jumped to my defence and scold him for insulting her friend for no good reason. I knew I couldn’t expect any sympathy from Pamela who was always poking fun at me though I never knew her true thoughts about me.

I was shocked, aghast and mortified by Angel’s unexpected behaviour in response to Stephan’s remark. She said nothing, absolutely nothing!! That alone would have been bad enough but she took pleasure in laughing and sniggering and pointing at me to Pamela who laughed uncontrollably. At that point my emotion took over and I felt the first tear roll down and settle under my right eye. I was confused, hurt and disappointed that the one person I thought was interested in making friends with me would support ridiculing me in public…for no reason! Again I was plunged to that place where I was convinced. Life Sucks!! Ram Goat
