As a Christian your life should always reflect the teaching of the Word.  We were given a manual (the Scriptures) to teach us how we’re meant to live our lives.  Many of us can preach the Word, but how many actually walk the walk?

My blog today is about taking baby steps to begin the transformation of your life – Elohim will then do the rest.

Too often we blow hot and cold which leaves us lukewarm, which the Scriptures says is a place we should not be. Revelation 3:15-16 saysI know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!  So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

Let me give you an example of being lukewarm – imagine you are out with your friends, telling them Jesus is the love of your life that without Him your life is meaningless.  You tell them He is the only way forward. You then leave to go home, get into your car, as you drive down the street someone dangerously cuts in front of you.

What is your reaction?  James 1:26 reminds us  “And if a man thinks that he serves God, and does not hold his tongue, but deceives his heart, this person’s service is worthless”

The scriptures in Matthew 18:21-22 also say you can fall seventy times seven; Elohim will forgive those who are truly repentant. So there’s no need to beat yourself up about this, it’s your conviction at the time in the Holy Spirit that sets you apart.

We can’t really know the depth of our character until we see how we react under pressure.  It’s easy to be kind to people when everything is going well, but we must still be kind when others are treating us unfairly. God wants to make us mature and complete.

I believe that a lot of our problems as believers are because we have not been transformed by the renewing of our minds.  So what does renewing your mind mean?  As I mentioned earlier it takes little steps to create that big step.

What are you constantly watching on TV? Yes, you can have entertainment in your life, but immerse yourself daily in the Word.  Turn the TV to a spiritual channel or watch something different.

What music are you listening to while you’re driving? Again why not change to something that will take you closer to God.   God created us to worship him with songs and prayers. God alone is worthy of our devotion, praise and worship.

He is God, our Creator, and we are commanded to praise and worship Him. Psalm 96:9 says, “Worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.” Psalm 29:2, “Give unto the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”

I had a 6 disk CD changer in the back of my car before I became a Christian.  A non-believer gave me 6 gospel CDs which I put in the CD changer (see how God can use anyone to transform your life, we must remember He chose us, we did not choose Him), I liked the songs, not because they were gospel music, but because they were the R&B music I listen to.  I listened to the CDs  every day, little did I know it was transforming me.

After about 6 months I was singing the songs without even realising the meaning of the words, yep they stayed in my car for the entire year because I was too lazy to go to the back of my car to change them.  But I didn’t realise it was God working in my life that stopped me from changing that CD, He knew I was not ready yet, so he continued to work on me.

Eventually He sent people my way to talk to me and one day while driving and singing along to one of the songs, tears started to fall from my eyes, because I eventually heard the words that God continued to put in my heart every day.   My life was transformed and I surrendered all to God my creator, who I will serve all the days of my life.

The message I am leaving you with is that although you may find that some gospel/Christian music is not your taste the music nowadays has changed so much you will find something you like – just ask God to guide you.

This is just one way of taking baby steps, find something spiritual you like doing and do it every day. Elohim is waiting for you to take the first step and He will do the rest.  Gradually you will find yourself growing spiritually. See How spiritually grown are you (I).
