ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The early morning accident that resulted in a vehicle ending up in the sea on April 1, 2013 at Pockwood Pond was allegedly due to the driver falling to sleep.

This is according to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).
According to sources, the vehicle appeared to be heading east when it ended up off the road and into the sea some time before 6 A.M.

“The driver reported that he had fallen asleep,” Acting Information Officer of the RVIPF, Sergeant Carl Mason told Virgin Islands News Online.

Mr Mason also confirmed that there were no reports of serious injuries as a result of the accident. This incident brings back sad memories of a similar accident that resulted in the death of Mr Maxwell Smith at Fresh Water Pond, West End on Sunday January 8, 2012. Virgin Islands News Online will keep you updated as more information comes in.
