Personally, I am a huge Sachin Tendulkar fan, and I was secretly hoping that he would have scored the century against us to become the first centurion immortal. Disclaimer: I am not being a traitor!
However, it would have been nice to see him achieve this feat in front of his home supporters. The next series that India will play is against Australia in Australia. Thus, if he should achieve that feat it would be abroad and it
probably will not be as memorable as it would have been at home.
Nonetheless, I am still happy that our bowlers were able to contain him. I mean enough batsmen have reached milestones against us. So, it is in a sense good that we were not “participants” in this inevitable milestone.
As usual, whenever the West Indies put on a good performance we are deafened with the voice of the “prophets”, saying that this is the corner turning performance that the West Indies have been waiting for. I am actually already hearing this gospel being preached from members of the “old guard” and the series is still ongoing.
I don’t really want to be a pessimist; however the West Indies has not turned any corner!!! They have just given us a string of good performances, which is not uncommon with them. They give us a string of poor performances and then they follow it up with a string of good performances. This has been the trend for the last decade. We should be use to it by now.
And, they are in fact being defeated by India except for the final test which had an exciting finish I will add. So how can they turn the corner when they are not even winning?
I guess desperation is a heavy burden which blocks the thinking process of an optimistic analyst. Can I add that Darren Bravo is looking more and more like the real deal though? The future can be bright but they have to carry their fighting spirit in all their matches.
