Vybz Kartel Breakout Hoax: Media Victim or Victor

Gaza in handcuffs

It would appear a rather feisty and pugnacious blogger has got the better or many a Caribbean and other media house by publishing erroneous drivel about incarcerated Vybz Kartel staging an Al Capone styled jail break.

Real name Adidjah Palmer, entertainer Vybz Kartel appeared in the Gun Court Division of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 30th November 2011,  charged with the July murder of Barrington ‘Bossie’ Bryan in Gregory Park St Catherine and was further remanded.

While he was in court a rumour was spread that he has successfully broken out of jail with the aid of accomplices and arms and ammunition. This hollywood styled break out was alleged to have resulted in one death and several cassualties.

Though we are unsure whether Vybz Kartel deliberately staged the rumour as part of an elaborate publicity stunt we know for sure he didn’t need the rumour to ramain in the public’s eye. The fact that he is also facing charges of conspiracy to murder, illegal possession of a firearm and possession of ganja is enough to keep his name in the news for a long time.

The good ole days...

But when you really think about it could this rumour help or harm the entertainer given the legal troubles he’s in? Would this make the media wary about their coverage of him making him the villain of the media or would it endear him to them gaining their sympathy and empathy…? Your thoughts…

By the way though we too were burnt by this now juicy rumour we will continue to report on his shenanigans but with greater care.
