In Grenada news,
Hon. Emmalin Pierre said, that the “move to upgrade our sporting facilities is to make them more conducive and comfortable for people to enjoy and participate in sporting activities.”
Minister Pierre informed the media about some of the current projects taking place such as the continued upgrading of the grounds and facilities at the Victoria Park and Grenville Basketball Court. In addition to the two locations mentioned, toilet facilities at the Vincennes and Laura playing fields are being constructed under the supervision of the Ministry.
For the more premiere events like the Scotiabank Inter-Col Games and KFC National Relay Meet, dialogue on preparations for the commencement of work at the National Athletic Stadium is in progress.
In relation to the agreement with the People’s Republic of China, the Minister stated that background work and preparatory planning are well on stream for the start of the stadium project. She informed that a commencement date of the project will be announced in the near future.
Currently, work is being done at the Roy St. John Playing Field (Tanteen Playing Field) to accommodate sports and other events during the interim of the construction project at the athletic stadium.
