Caribbean news. To quote the “Viking” Bunji Garlin “We ready”, or rather the stage is ready. As of Friday 14th, the Stage at the Queens Park Savannah is set up and ready for the parades of the bands on carnival Monday and Tuesday. Over the years there has been some controversies and criticism about the said “stage”.
Many have said and written about its size, location and safety. This year the National Carnival Commission (NCC) has ensured its structural integrity and reassures the public that carnival 2014 will be a safe and special event.
Now that the stage is ready, are you ready? On carnival Carnival Monday and Tuesday the revelers on the street go from point to point on the streets of Port of Spain and finally make their “movements” to the stage at the Queens park. On this voyage, our brave revelers “wine” on everything from the lamp post to the truck, from the pavement to the stage itself..lol
It would be neglectful of me to forget what has happened and what is to come. On the 15th February 2014, the Chuttney Soca monarch finals was held and the Winner being “K.I”, with a second place tie between “Ricky Jai” and “Ravi B”. The winner took home two million dollars, I wish I was him.
On Friday 28th the stage will be set for the Internal Power and Groovy soca monarch. It will be a rival event between Machel Montano and Supa Blue (the reigning joint champions), along with Bunji Garlin, Fay-ann Lions, Destra Gracia (the Queen of bachannal) and Kes the Band.
So now that the stage is ready, are you ready?…is your ticket ready for the big finale?…have you joined a band? If not then to quote Richard Sherman “you mad bro”!!!!
