Isaiah 40:31 from the Bible states, “But those who wait on the Lord. Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint”.
We live in a society where waiting is not deemed to be fruitful, we’re in an era of fast food, drive through, build and do anything within 5 minutes. A stew cooked in a dutch pot or slow cooker for about 4 hours tastes 100% better than one done in a microwave in five minutes.
Waiting involves employing the fruit of patience, which means allowing God to bring everything together at His pace and in His own time. Just as every ingredient in the stew needs to blend and the juices need to flow together to taste delicious and leave you content, so it is waiting on the Lord, everything will flow together beautifully.
We all live in a community where people are involved in relationships with different personalities. There are times when a situation is beyond our control, but we want to giddy up the people or person involved so we can accomplish the project or relationship. However, even if we are ready for the fulfilment and conclusion of the matter, the other side clearly isn’t and we have to employ the wait.
What does that mean? It means we have to step completely back and not do anything but pray and seek God’s wisdom on how to deal with the matter in hand. It means not cajoling or trying to convince the other side of your perspective, they need to come to that place for themselves, and in their own time.
It is imperative that we allow God to do His work otherwise, if we don’t we will lose the God given blessing. Have you noticed that when you feel compelled to pick fruit from the tree too early it tastes bitter, or if we get it too late it is rotten, but gathered at the right time it is sweet to your taste? Why? Because irrespective of your compulsions and desires, you’ve allowed the fruit to mature at its own pace and time. You did not interfere with the growth process, you allowed nature to take its course and bring the fruit to full maturity which was delivered in its glory at the right time, it’s the same when we allow people the space to grow into fullness especially in the area where we need them.
Waiting on the Lord means that we keep the person or situation in prayer, trusting God to do what He promised us He would do, despite the tumultuous situations we may encounter on the journey to the destination. Like a seed has to burst out of its enclosure to become that plant, we too have to burst out of impatience and turn full control of our will over to God, believe me it’s not easy but God knows best!
If we wait on the Lord we will not be frustrated, rather the opposite we will receive strength and mount up with wings like eagles, we shall run and not be weary, walk and not be faint. Why? Because God is handling the burden of the situation which could crush us. God is working behind the scenes of the matter, is it easy waiting and allowing Him full control of the situation, no it certainly isn’t.
Please wait on the Lord to turn your challenge around, because when you do, you’ll be blessed with the sweetest life…”Because God makes everything beautiful in His time”…Ecclesiastes 3:11.
So until next time, remember you are beautiful and wonderfully made – With love Amanda x
