Stretching Into Purpose

How many times have you heard the sayings of ‘You must live a purpose driven life, or what’s your purpose or discover your purpose’ the list goes on and on. However, have you noticed that there’s hardly any information out there to help you not only understand what your purpose is, but that it also requires a lot of stretching in your mind, will, emotions, spirit and body?

Knowing and fulfilling your purpose is one thing, but the ability to achieve it is another. To reach your end goal takes stamina, determination and a whole lotta gusto in the face of rejection.

Your purpose may be a product or a service that is beneficial and meets the needs of mankind, but that doesn’t mean it will be met with a whole lot of enthusiasm or that people will be banging on your door wanting to solicit or buy your offerings. As long as you’re passionate and are prepared to be stretched way above your human limitations, then you’re on the right wavelength to reaching your destiny.

I’ll give you an example. Given my over 35 years in the legal and corporate sector, with academic degrees, I genuinely thought that I was prepared to run my own organisation ‘Female Dignity’. I really believed it would be a walk in the park, until I realised that ‘customer need’ alone was not going to bring success. It was going to take being stretched beyond the parameters of business acumen.

One of the meanings of the word ‘stretch’ according to Merriam Websters dictionary is ‘to cause the limbs of (a person) to be pulled especially in torture’. As we all know torture involves a lot of pain. Therefore the question for us is, ‘Does our Purpose involve pain for the benefit of others’, whether it’s a product or a service, if there’s no pain, then there’s no gain and in fact we’re doing a hobby.

Female Dignity is for the menstrual benefit of female-kind and the protection of the earth. It’s a product and a service that though is needful faces many challenges both local and global. The pain of females suffering on a monthly basis due to lack of natural menstrual products has to end, alongside the earth being polluted with menstrual items made using chemicals and plastics. This is my life’s goal and burning desire.

Bringing this amazing imitative to the forefront in male dominated environments has not been easy, my pains included lack of funds with mental anguish, thus this is the driving force of why I cannot give up.

I want to encourage you today to find your purpose. A good indicator is when you find your heart burning with a desire to change some form of injustice, or invent something for the betterment of life then go for it! But…be prepared to be stretched.

Like when  a gymnast, loosening their joints is painful at the beginning, with practice if they don’t give up, there comes a day when they’ll stretch gracefully without pain and everyone will see they were created for this purpose, it’ll be the same for you.

‘Stretch into your Purpose’, because you are worth it and mankind is waiting on you!

So until next time, remember you are beautiful and wonderfully made – With love Amanda x
