Dear Church Leader,

As we reflect on the past year, we recognize that we are in unprecedented times. We acknowledge that as a nation we can do nothing without Christ and as a Christian Nation our source is greater than ourselves and we need God to overcome our challenges.
It is for such times as this, we are called.

Whoever you are and whatever you happen to believe, we need to come together in one mind and one spirit in deepening our spiritual engagement through Prayer & Fasting, Praise and Thanksgiving to cover our beloved nation, Saint Lucia.

Our Cabinet of Ministers and I have therefore declared a National Day of Prayer & Fasting, Praise and Thanksgiving on Monday 24th May, 2021 from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

2 Chronicles 7:14 states, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

We invite you to join with us. All Faith-based organizations are asked to spend the day in Prayer & Fasting and Praise and Thanksgiving between the hours of 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. A zoom link and phone lines will also be set up on the National Television Network (NTN) to allow for participation from the entire population and the diaspora. Faith- based organizations who wish to live stream their services on NTN can do so by informing organizers in advance. They will be allotted Forty-five (45) minutes during the televised broadcast. The presentations can include prayers, spiritual songs, spoken Word and testimony.

One week before May 24th, we will make the official declaration and as we invite all to spend time during the week in quiet meditation and supplication for the upcoming

Hurricane Season, prayer for peace and safety for the pending general elections and the many ills that plague our society. We should also spend time thanking God for leading our nation and the world through this terrible pandemic.

We ask that you confirm your participation by Wednesday May 12, 2021; thereafter, we expect any pre-recorded presentations by Wednesday May 19, 2021. Reservations can also be made for groups interested in a live studio presentation on the actual day.

We thank you for your usual favourable response as we rally together for our nation. May God Bless you and Keep you and May He bless our Nation, Saint Lucia.

Yours sincerely,
……………………………..
ALLEN M. CHASTANET
Prime Minister & Minister for Finance, Economic Growth, Job Creation and External Affairs
