The following information was supplied by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Macomb County Sheriff‘s deputies arrested a Shelby Township man March 8 for drunken driving on what the suspect later admitted to police was a trip to sell marijuana.

Officers were called to the 21000 block of Martinique Drive in Macomb Township at approximately 5:06 p.m. March 8 for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, officers saw a 23-year-old Shelby man driving across the lawn of an empty lot.

When officers stopped him, he admitted he had been drinking at a local bar and was taking prescription medication. He also told police he was in the area because he was planning to sell marijuana to friends living nearby, according to the police report.

The man did have a medical marijuana license on his person and police found a half ounce of suspected marijuana in his vehicle, according to the police report.

A preliminary breath test revealed the man’s blood alcohol content to be .22. He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and taken to the Macomb County Jail where he was lodged on a $100 interim bond.
