Pageant robbery! Where’s the credibility…?

For those of us who watched the live streaming of the 2011 Miss Jamaica World Pageant, we saw where, contestant Chavoy fumbled on her final question and messed it up, and was ushered off the stage.  In the latter part of the final question segment, after the other contestants had answered their question, she was given a third shot at the same question.  This puzzled everyone, and some were even disgusted by this and thought it was unfair as some audience members proceeded to boo (this was not shown on the TVJ broadcast….it was only shown on the live streaming).

Recently something happened which cleared up the doubt (how did she get another chance to come back on stage to reattempt the question?) many persons had on their mind.  Do I hear wedding bells ringing?  Yes I do, recently Chavoy got engaged to one of the judges of the pageant who is also a sponsor of the event.  They claim that they only began dating after the pageant. (that was quick).  But of course people will have their own theories.  But if they say so we just have to take their word for it.

However, persons like me will become very suspicious and begin to question the credibility of the pageant.  According to the Entertainment Report a representative of the pageant claimed, Chavoy’s now fiancé apparently did not vote for her as the overall winner of the competition but when asked if he voted for her to win any of the sectional prizes, (most of which she won by the way) no response was forthcoming.

Well as for me I have my own theories which I will share.  It is either they

were dating prior to the competition or their recent engagement is a sham and simply a publicity stunt (yes a Kim Kardashian kind of engagement) or maybe they are being truthful and this is all just coincidental.  The reason for my first theory is that, watching the pageant the night, I saw her getting most of the sectional prizes and that second or should I say third chance to answer the final question, spelled favouritism to me.  So even from that night after the pageant I opined that she was supposed to be crowned but the nepotism would have been too obvious with that big blunder with the final question.

The reason I say it could be a publicity tactic is after she lost the crown at the Miss Jamaica World Pageant she went on to enter two (if I am not mistaken) other international pageants, then shortly after we hear she is engaged to one of the judges and sponsor of the pageant and we see the engagement on the front page of a newspaper (last time I checked, that wasn’t news).

The reason I say they may be telling the truth and this may all be coincidental, is just that, it may all be coincidental and that is what they say so until we have proof we just have to take their word for it. (yeah right).  But most times the reality of situations doesn’t really matter, it’s the appearance that most people are concerned with and right now, to a lot of people, this situation does not appear to be a coincidence.  Anyway though, whatever the case may be, she got herself a sugar daddy out of all of this, so more power to you hun.
