Osama and religion: Not a Joke!!!

In recent weeks, after the death of Osama bin Laden a number of jokes had been made about him and his wife. Some of these jokes were bordering on the issues of religion and ethnicity. I am happy for the US government and people for the capture of the man that was behind the 9/11 attack. However, there is a line that one cannot cross.

Maybe it is my opinion because I am from Trinidad and Tobago, and the culture and mind set of the US people is different from my own.  But discrimination of a religion or race of people is wrong. I do not know if the Islamic people of the United States appreciate comedians using a national media forum to make jokes about Bin Laden that is derogatory towards his ethnicity and religion. It is one thing to turn him into a joke, but doing it to his religion is another thing. It is offensive to the people of that religion.

Therefore, you have Osama Bin Laden, a terrorist, a person of the Islamic faith and then you have the people of the Islamic Faith but are not Terrorists. So why is there a level of thought that is happening in the world that allows the idea that just because you are Muslim you are a terrorist?

Infamous Osama Bin Laden

Even if you don’t see it like this, why are the American people disrespecting the Islamic faith, whether intentionally or unintentionally, just because it is different from their own culture?

My questions are:

Is my argument Valid?

Do you think that the American people should make fun of a dead terrorist?

If the government of the United States disagrees with killing and blood spilling then why violently kill Bin Laden and flaunt it on the news that he was shot in the face?
