No luck for the Boyz: The Surface Issue

The Reggae Boyz have managed to extend their streak without a victory. They lost 2-1 to Honduras in their recent friendly encounter. It wasn’t that friendly an encounter for the boys. The team was mostly made up of local players, which simply means that it was not their first choice side.  It is the international players that have the better reputation.

Thus, it can be said that their defeat is not a true reflection of where the team is at. That is most of the better players were absent.  Likewise, it can be said that the local players are used to playing with and against each other, thus they should have a better chemistry with each other on the field.

However, the chemistry was definitely lacking in the match against Honduras. The passing was most disorganized. This comes back to the debate about the quality of the international league against the local one. I am not saying that the local league should mirror the English Premier League, but it definitely needs to be more organized.

More so the surface that the players play on needs to be kept better.  It was evident in the just concluded match that the players had a difficult time adjusting to the surface; simply because it is well kept in contrast to the surface that they are used to playing on. Whereas the international players would be used to playing on well kept surfaces, so they would not have had to make any adjustment.
