Ninja Man’s glory days are over?

During the time of Ninja Man’s incarceration there were rumors of the deejay being involved in jail fights and getting beat up by other inmates, however there were no confirmations on these incidents; not until Ninja Man appeared on Television Jamaica’s weekly entertainment program, Entertainment Report.  According to the Ninja, he won some and he lost some.  So there we have our confirmation.

Now, I have never been to prison/jail before but from all the stories I have heard and the movies I have seen, jail/prison is a rough place where fights break out all the time.  However, I would have thought that there was some kind of hierarchy in jail where some persons just do not get picked on and these people include celebrities and those inmates facing serious charges such as murder and known heads of gangs.

Therefore, hearing Ninja Man who some may claim as a celebrity in his own right and some may also even describe him as a ‘don’ not in the sense that he is a criminal but in the sense that he is well respected; being beat up in jail totally throws my theory right through the window.

I am now thinking that maybe no inmate is exempt from the occasional pounding by other inmates.  Maybe in jail your street credibility really does not matter anymore.  Maybe, in jail, it is every man for himself.  Or maybe, just maybe it is simply that Ninja Man is not as respected as I thought.

Maybe his street credibility is not as it once was ‘the official front teeth, gold teeth don gargon’.  Maybe his glory days are truly over.  This may just be the reason; when you take into consideration that Vybz Kartel has also been in jail and we have not heard any rumors of him being beaten up in jail.  Or maybe his time just has not come yet.  Whatever it is, I will figure it out in time
