Recently the newly elected Guild Executive (Guild of Students at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus) has taken a new initiative to solve the ideological problems facing students on campus and the wider society. The Guild’s new president Amlicar Sanatan sought to address the issue of differences among members of different faiths. The forums that the GUILD are hosting ultimately hopes to encourage individuals from  certain faiths to acquire a general passion and intriguing persona that generally leads them to become knowledgeable in different faiths other than their own. By accomplishing this, the society as a whole can now grasp the concept of unity, leaving a small space for some differences. This unity at this level will therefore illustrate to us all that we can have peace, harmonious living and a genuine respect for one another.

The Guild of Students has been pushing a tradition of social consciousness for quite some time now. This new undertaking by our newly elected Executive of Guild has continued that tradition if not taking it to a level that has not been reached by prior executives. The Guild has completed two of its five events which promote social consciousness, social understanding and respect. It is important to note that the Guild executive do not take their official roles until the start of the new academic year. However, the determination of the Guild Executive lead by their President, sought to get an early start to the positive and productive goals and objectives they wish to accomplish. All actions in the hope of benefiting the students of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus.
