My Deck Experience: A Jamaican party vibe

Over the weekend I took the liberty of going out.  Being tired of the regular clubs where, the same sets of songs are played, I opted to go to somewhere different.  After searching the city for places to go, I finally stumbled upon the place, I was searching for.  It was like love at first entrance.

The place I speak of is a little place off Trafalgar Road, named, The Deck.  When I entered the compound, I saw persons sitting on the outside eating and liming.  As I ventured further inside, I heard the music pumping louder in my ears.

When I finally got inside the venue, the dance floor was heating up with patrons having a good time.  At that time, which was some time after 12 midnight, some old school dancehall was what the patrons were swinging to.  The deejay, changed genres shortly after to pop, but he maintained the old school feel, with songs like, “Hey Micky”.

Just like outside, there were also persons inside, who were also seated and having meals, but it was still obvious, that although seated, they were also enjoying the musical selections being played by the deejay, as they rocked the night away in their chairs.

What I like most about this spot is that unlike other spots, the crowd at this place was highly diverse.  There were old people, young people, white people, and black people, uptown and downtown people.

(Yes, I know I am stereotyping with the uptown and downtown thing since I did not go around, asking persons where they were from.  But we all judge based on what we see.)

While I was there the dance floor never got empty and neither did it lose any energy.  When I was leaving, some time after 2am, the music was still pumping and the patrons were still jumping.  The songs also remained old school.  Even though I did not join the dance floor, I must say it was a good experience and I shall be going back.
