FRIDAY JUNE 28, 2013, KINGSTOWN, SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES – Leslassa Amour-Shillingford with confidence oozing with her every move, was crowned Miss Carival 2013 making Dominica news at Carnival City, Victoria Park in Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
She won three of the four-judged categories, namely Best Talent, Best Evening Wear, and Best Interview; in addition to being judged Miss Photogenic.
She performed a talent titled Unite in Action in which she displayed remarkable skills as she utilized ballet dance steps in her performance.
Her gown ‘Mother Earth’ was a mouth-watering creation of charteuse green stretch Crepe, cut in bias panels, which started at her shoulders, with deep plunges in both back and front, and ended in a 65-inch train.
From the moment she stepped onto a wet stage in the national wear, followed by the swimwear, she displayed a class above the rest in poise and confidence.
The other winners on that night were Best Swimwear category – Miss Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, while Miss Dominican Republic was awarded the Miss Congeniality Most Community Spirited Awards, respectively making Caribbean news.
Second Runner-up position went to Miss Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – Shara George, and the First Runner-up position to Miss St. Kitts/Nevis – Zinga Imo.
The other contestants were Miss Saint Lucia – Janelle Desir, Miss Trinidad and Tobago – Jenelle Thongs, Miss Venezuela – Yaimer Armes, Miss British Virgin Islands – Sharie del Castro, Miss Dominican Republic – Rosa Martinez, and Miss Jamaica – Kabrena Robinson.
