London bus strike Caribbean style

Date:

Social commentary. Unless you’re living under a rock or are habitually chauffeur driven around London you’ll be aware that the Unite union has announced three 24-hour strikes; the first of these was Thursday 5 February, which caused significant disruption to London bus services.

In spite of the biting cold weather, conditions frowned upon by African Caribbeans, some enterprising fun loving members of the Unite union decided to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with their pay level by holding an impromptu Bar B Que in Camberwell South London.

Unite BBQ

The event was a marvel to watch as the jerk chicken sizzled to the rustic sounds of Bob Marley’s Crazy Bald Heads and other Caribbean favourites. Two further 24-hour strikes are planned by the Unite union for Friday 13 and Monday 16 February.
