Growing up in the nineties, I was exposed to Lady Saw in her prime when she did songs those explicit songs such as, “If Him Lef” and “Back Shot”.

As the years progressed, we saw the slowing down of Muma Saw.  Her lyrics got a little less explicit with songs such as “Chat to Mi Back”.

Then we saw where Lady Saw came to a halt, and Marion Hall was introduced to Jamaica and the world.

Marion Hall got booked for corporate functions.  She got booked for mature events; events where we would be shocked to see Lady Saw.  Marion Hall is more “corporate friendly”.

I remember watching an interview with Marion Hall where she was reflecting on Lady Saw and she said (I am not quoting here) when she listens back to some of the songs Lady Saw did, she has to ask if that really was her.  Of course it was not, it was Lady Saw.

Is this Marion Hall or Lady Saw...?

Fast forward to 2012 and we see the return of Lady Saw and she is raunchier than ever, or just as raunchy as before.  Whatever it is, all I can say is welcome back Lady Saw and bye bye Marion Hall, until we meet again.  With songs like “Short Cummings” and “No Sucker” I think it is safe to say that Lady Saw did not venture too far at all, she was just behind the curtains waiting to come back into the spotlight.

After Lady Saw’s return, in a recent interview (again I am not quoting) she said, she tried the Marion Hall thing and it did not work, as whenever she performed as Marion Hall, persons were still requesting Lady Saw.  However, she is still willing to bring Marion Hall back on stage if she is requested.

Being older than most of the other females in the game, she is certainly teaching the youngsters a thing or two.
