In Jamaica news. For 150 years Jamaica like many other countries in the Caribbean has conformed to the illegality of homosexuality as prescribed by the old British Common Law prior to independence. As homosexuality gains popularity around the world particularly in developed countries such as the United States and Britain former colonies or dependent territories are pressured to relax the antiquated laws in order to keep step with global trends and in some cases are pressured to do so to benefit from fiscal and other incentives.

The liberal JAMAICA LOOK OUT Movement in Jamaica has begun a nationwide campaign to overturn Jamaica’s 150 year old law forbidding homosexuality, a challenge expected to receive much resistance but the campaigners are resolute and optimistic of a positive outcome.
