Jamaica: Get off the Beaten Track – Visit YS Falls

I always love visiting Dunns River Waterfalls in Ocho Rios. It makes for a great day out when you are in Jamaica and I have seen families, romantic couples, groups of women and butch men slide on the lime scaled rocks as they go up the waterfalls.

For those who want to get off the beaten track and away from the crowds take a visit to YS Falls for a truly unforgettable day out. YS Fall is situated  on the south coast of the island in the parish of St Elizabeth.

YS Falls is actually on a private estate and it long history has witnessed the estate used as a sugar cane farm, exporter of logwood and raising cattle.  Some of these activities are in the past but they now raise thorough bred horses and Jamaica Red Poll cattle (pedigreed herd). The present owners opened the doors to the public in 1992 and we can share one of Jamaica’s best kept secrets.

What can you expect when you visit this award winning ecotourism attraction!  Nature lovers will be in heaven, as you enter the gates you will be blown away by the beauty of the lush estate and then hypnotised as you watch the 7 tiered cascading waterfalls. A true wonder of nature.

The greatest joy is attempting to walk across the falls and experiencing the cold natural spring water.  The fun does not stop here as they also have a canopy ride high above the waterfalls, a river tube ride or a natural spring pool to relax the day away.

The beautiful YS Falls

Who else is in love with YS falls! I know that this is on my list of places to revisit when I return to Jamaica.  I can sum up YS Falls in 3 words: beautiful, breathtaking, paradise.
