The infamous trans atlantic slave trade involved millions of captured Africans from the continent distributed across the Americas and every island in the West Indies. But Haiti, part of Hispaniola to the north of the West Indies resisted the threat of enslavement up until the 19th century when the Americans forced themselves onto the weak and gullible leaders of the time.
