Voting in motion

Evidence of ballot box tampering continues to pour in; Guyana elections preliminary results not credible.

Guyanese people are left to face an alarming dilemma this morning. Should they accept the results of a rigged election? or should they engage in some form of nonviolent protest until their voices are heard by the PPPC?, only time will tell.

Georgetown, Guyana: December 1st, 2011 — Guyanese are waking up on day 3 after the elections to yet no results. Over the course of the past two days, OVNN worked diligently to investigate multiple claims of voting irregularities. OVNN’s finding confirms the worst fears of the Guyanese people, that the elections were rigged and they are now being coerced, bullied, intimidated and threatened by Jagdeo to accept rigged results.

The report from the team of elections observers does not inspire confidence in the results of the elections; as in a press conference on November 30th, they took the opportunity to blast the inefficiencies and errors at GECOM. In the press conference the Organization of American States (OAS) stated that there were a few white envelopes that were unescorted and handled by unofficial polling officers given to GECOM and tabulated.

The OAS stated that GECOM refusal to publish preliminary results by GECOM and follow the initial rules and procedures that was implemented prior to Election Day is of great alarm.

Evidence of Ballot box tampering

When the votes are counted and all documentation is completed. the ballots and copies of the documents are placed in the ballot box and the box is secured by a red, numbered, GECOM seal. There is no good reason why those seals should be found anywhere other than on the ballot boxes. Yet OVNN has evidence of multiple cases of tampering.

  1. Just after noon on November 29th, evidence of ballot box tampering was found at the North Ruimveldt MultiLateral School. The seal found was numbered 0023154 and marked GECOM.
  2. More seals were found at North Ruimveldt Multilateral School where ballot boxes for District 4 South Georgetown were stored on elections night.

The seals found were red in colour, were marked GECOM, and each had a number as follows: 0025417, 0025411, 0024161, 0025416, 0024569, 0025418, 0024561, 8th seal partial number 002, 9th seal number cut off.
