Paying tribute to the exotic Victoria Regia water lily and exuding the national pride of the land of many waters, this brown paper design by Sonia Noel, brings with it the eclectic fashioning that is inherently Guyanese.
Boasting of Guyana’s bountiful flora ,symbolized by the dozens of cut- out leaves in varying sizes, trimmed in shimmering sequin highlights to also flaunt the country’s mineral wealth, we present Amazonia Caribe. This unique craft-styled gowns with the Noel’s signature lattice work depicting the beautiful architecture found in Guyana bares the novel soul of an aesthetic, borne out of a new world style where South America meets the West Indies. The cocktail dress was made from left over programmes from Theatrical Spectacular which was stage at the Cultural Centre last.
The use of indigenous techniques in accessorizing conjures up an Amerindian ethos”.Fashion could be about fantasy and it think it is important for a designer to go from one extreme to the other displaying their creativity and engaging the fantasy world and still be real”.
Let’s appreciate new-world style at its eco-friendly best!
