Caribbean news. Petition Created On the Whitehouse Website

After dancehall artiste, Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer was found guilty, Gaza fans were disappointed and angry.  They claimed foul play and corruption on the part of the Jamaican Police.

Days after the verdict was read, a petition was created on the Whitehouse website, asking for the United States to investigate the case.  The petition stated “Jamaican Dancehall Artiste Vybz Kartel did not get the fair trial he deserved.  Evidence has been tampered with in his case by the law enforcement of Jamaica.

He was found guilty before his trial started.  Everyone deserves a fair trial whether they reside in the US or not.  United States need to investigate the corruption in this case.”

The petition managed to gather hundreds of signatures in a day.  United States residents can get the President to review any issue, if they can get 100,000 signatures on a petition on the Whitehouse website.  It did not matter to Kartel fans that this was not an issue affecting the United States, they went ahead with their petition anyway.  The petition was created March 15 and gathering over 500 signatures by March 15 before it was removed.

For persons wanting to sign the petition, when they visit the page for the petition, they will be greeted with the following message “Thanks for your interest in We the People, a new tool on WhiteHouse.gov that allows all Americans to ask the Obama Administration to take action on a range of important issues facing our country.

The petition you are trying to access has been removed from the site under our Moderation Policy because it is in violation of our Terms of Participation.

While you can’t sign this petition, there may be other petitions on We the People on a similar issue that you’d like to add your name to. Or, you can create your own petition.”
