One would have thought inventor of the telephone Alexander Graham Bell would have been the person to suggest the most appropriate greeting or phrase to use when answering the telephone. His suggestion ‘ahoy’ did not gain popularity and was sidelined for his rival Thomas Edison’s suggestion ‘Hello’.
