The prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad Bissessar, is facing a vote of censure in Parliament on Friday for the management of her government after taking office in May 2010.

The beginning of the debate is scheduled for 13:30 hours, local time (17:30 GMT), and the government, the United National Congress and other four partner organizations like the opposition People’s National Movement, have sought support from their forces.

The issue is very serious and its constitutional implications may ultimately lead to a change of government policies and programs, according to officials quoted by the Caribbean Media Corporation.

We have several issues to debate, including some new ones that have come forward over the last 48 hours or less, said Environment Minister Roodal Moonilal.

Opposition leader Keith Rowley presented the motion against Persad Bissessar, claiming that an endless series of events have demonstrated the prime minister’s incompetence during her administration.
