Did Someone Put Obeah / Black Magic At My Gate? Please Help

Authentic Chick,

I am hurting so badly. I am about the best you could get when it comes to carpentry. I have had to close my shop these days.

One morning in November last year, I came out of my home and as usual, I proceeded to walk the short distance between my front door and the gate that led towards my workshop.

I saw a small package on the ground and, not thinking about anything else, I kicked at it and a $5 note fell out on to the concrete area. I knew that the money was not mine and I kicked it into the nearby drain.

The next day, the same thing happened. Again, I kicked the money away from my gate. After about a week or so, both of my feet began to swell. Could it be that my feet were “doctored” by someone who meant to harm me in some way?

Carpenter,

Speyside, Tobago.

Dearest Carpenter,

I see that our readership is growing and I welcome your contribution today. I am sitting on my back porch and something jumped out at me. Your case is probably not unique to Tobago. In many of the Caribbean islands, there are a number of stories that were written from there over the years.

What do you mean that your feet were swollen? I am not trying to trivalise the issue. But seriously, how could kicking a small package that contained a five dollar note impact your feet so wretchedly? Have you visited the doctor? Could it be that you have had some sort of a medical condition prior to kicking that package and that you were not aware that such a condition existed in your body? Your feet are important of course and you need to take care of them at all times, A good footbath with a handful of epsom salts and a few drops of crushed garlic does wonders to the feet after half an hour soak in such a mixture or a similar warm water concoction.

Why not speak to another member of your community there and see to it that you take care of those feet? Don’t get carried away with this issue of the notion that someone may have “doctored” your feet. I am putting this down to superstitious beliefs. Anyway, if you have tried the foot bath and a visit to your local doctor  please let me know how things have progressed. I am always here to give some advice to anyone.

Take care.  Ta, Ta….
