Barbados all-rounder Dwayne Smith hit a half-century but was upstaged by Trinidad and Tobago left-arm spinner Dave Mohammed who grabbed three wickets to lead Empire to a four-wicket win over YMPC, in the semi-final of the domestic T20 Championship here Friday night.

Playing at Kensington Oval, the right-handed Smith carved out 65 off 61 balls to help lift YMPC to 124 for seven off their 20 overs, after they won the toss and opted to bat.

Former Barbados captain Ryan Hinds then stroked an unbeaten 51 from 38 balls to carry Empire into today’s final where they meet Maple.

In Empire’s run chase, the game was wide open at 69 for five in the 14th over until Hinds anchored a 45-run, sixth wicket stand off 27 balls with Javon Searles (23).

Hinds cracked four fours and two sixes while Searles faced 14 balls and hit three boundaries.
