The shooting took place minutes after one (1)pm and the victim is said to be an Avalon construction worker, that was working on the water duct next to the Beds and Beyond business.
The victim is still alive and was taken to the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) by ambulance.
According to reliable sources, the shooter approached the area in a dark tinted gold Kia Rio with license plate number P4693.
Shots were fired from the car hitting the victim in his stomach.
The car with an undetermined amount of occupants then disappeared.
Police spokesman Inspector Ricardo Henson told PJD2 News on Wednesday afternoon that initial information has revealed that the victim and the shooter were apparently involved in an argument earlier in the day.
The shooter then left the construction site only to return and carry out the crime of shooting the victim in his stomach.
Other sources told SXMIslandtime.com that the victim is a Jamaican National and the shooter is of Hispanic origin.
