Caribbean news. Bryan Treherne a career trade adviser who spoke recently at the CIBN Saint Lucia networking event, has joined CIBN as a member. Bryan received a national award for his work in helping companies break into the export market. Originally from Coulsdon, is the first individual to have been presented with a lifetime achievement award at the International Trade Awards normally reserved for companies.
Bryan is a retired international trade adviser with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the government department which helps UK companies succeed in the global economy. He is now a leading member of the South London Export Club and works closely with Croydon Chamber of Commerce.
A few years ago he was made an MBE for his services to exporting and for his community work. He said: “It was a real shock to receive this award. “I was invited to the House of Lords for the ceremony but I wasn’t expecting anything at all.” Mr Treherne, said he believes the job of getting companies involved in export markets was more important than ever.
