Roshane lives in Jamaica, and like many kids in his community, he has been absent from school more times than the days he were able to attend.
This young boy wasn’t being lazy or unruly. His family circumstances meant that on most days he didn’t have the choice to attend school.
So how did Roshane overcome this adversity and manage to be successful in his GSAT exams? Well watch the video below as he shares his story.
You can’t help but admire Roshane’s smile and positive spirit. He might not have all the latest gadgets or fancy clothes but this young man from western Jamaica, is working towards a better future for himself and his family.
Roshane’s success is also due in part to Children of Faith and UNICEF. Both organizations are tackling the high rate of student absenteeism in western Jamaica.
I hope that there will be many more kids like Roshane. This is one of the few ways that Jamaica will be able to address the social issues related to crime especially the recent increase in violent crime in western Jamaica.
