Guyana’s economy will continue to expand under a government led by Donald Ramotar while other countries around the world have slowed down in growth and are bankrupt. The People’ Progressive Party/Civic Presidential Candidate, Donald Ramotar gave this assurance at a public meeting held at New Amsterdam on Monday evening as the campaign intensifies.

Addressing a large crowd in front of the party’s New Amsterdam headquarter’s Monday evening the PPP/C assured supporters of a prosperous Guyana even in the midst of the worst recession. Ramotar, a trained economist said while significant gains have been made more could have been accomplished but attributed this to the lack of cheap energy, a situation that will be fixed under the PPP/C administration with hydropower. He added that prosperity can only be achieved in a country where there is freedom, a cause his party has championed. The economist also referred to the PNC’s undemocratic practices which made Guyana the poorest country in the western hemisphere.

But according to him, the PPP/C since it took office in 1992 has turned this around making Guyana now the fastest growing country in the Caribbean. Ramotar noted that citizens cannot afford to put a political party which has no moral authority to govern, adding that a vote for PNCR led APNU is a vote to return to the past. Meanwhile President Bharrat Jagdeo in his address to a similar large crowd at Rosehall spoke of the manner in which the PNCR led APNU has operated in the past and has demonstrated that they have not changed.

He noted that November 28 is about ensuring that the progress continues adding that only one person should be trusted who has the vision to lead Guyana which is Donald Ramotar.
