September 8th 2022, a date that will forever be etched in the minds of many, in remembering where they were upon hearing the sad news, that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away peacefully at her Balmoral home. The Elizabethan age thus has ended, a new monarch was immediately heralded in by King Charles III., the late Queen’s eldest son.

What lessons can we learn from a lady that reigned in the U.K. for over 70 years? For the purposes of this article I’ve chosen to focus on two of her amazing distinguished qualities. In her personal life Queen Elizabeth was a wife, a mother, a daughter, grand and great grandmother, a relative, so how was she able to fulfil her private roles and be the Head of the Church under God, be the Queen of Great Britain, the Commonwealth and British Overseas Territories, with class, dignity, love and Joy?

Queen Elizabeth gave us her answer on how she was able to balance her public and private life during her 2002 Christmas message. She said… ”I know just how much I rely on my own faith to guide me through the good times and the bad. Each day is a new beginning, I know that the only way to live my life is to try to do what is right, to take the long view, to give of my best in all that the day brings, and to put my trust in God”…¹ Regardless of her privileged lifestyle, insurmountable courtiers at her disposal wherever she went, there are only some things in life that only we as human beings can carry alone, and no amount of money or status in society can compensate for it.

Only women can experience the pain of birthing a child, the uncomfortable feelings of expansion and changes that our body goes through to accommodate the baby. Queen Elizabeth knew this very well, especially after birthing her four children. Irrespective of resources at our disposal there are certain crosses that we alone are called to bear, and Queen Elizabeth was no different, she knew that the only way to live this life was to put her trust totally in God. The fruit of her life is evident that she lived a life of faith, despite the test and trials that came her way she always remained dignified.

Queen Elizabeth’s love for people was proven in the way she listened with her eyes, and accepted them with her smile, I believe that Queen Elizabth’s love flowed from her faith in God. From reviewing news footage and interviews, all who had the pleasure of meeting her said she was caring, listened and was genuinely interested in whomever she was speaking to at that particular moment.

A true servant until 2 days prior to her death, by welcoming the new prime minister. May we learn and implement the lessons and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II., and leave our world a better place like she did hers! Thank you God for welcoming your servant, our beloved Queen, your daughter home!

So until next time, remember you are beautiful and wonderfully made – With love Amanda x
