What was arguably dancehall’s most lucrative business partnership, is one again back on track.  Vybz Kartel and Corey Todd have reunited as business partners.  Reports are that, the two have been in dialogue with each other since Kartel’s incarceration.  According to the May 18 edition of Entertainment Report, Todd won’t say who reached out to whom; however, rumors are that Vybz Kartel is the one who extended the olive branch, through his long time girlfriend Shorty.

According to reports Corey Todd has made a commitment to help Vybz Kartel where his current criminal charges are concerned.  He also said that the World Boss is not guilty of anything, except hanging around the wrong crowd.  This was the same sentiment shared by former Portmore Empire artist Lisa Hyper.

Todd has already begun honouring his commitment, as he will be hosting a benefit concert in Club Riddim in honour of Vybz Kartel.  Reports are that all the proceeds of that concert will go towards aiding in Vybz Kartel’s legal expenses.  Artists from the Portmore Empire are expected to perform at this event.

With the rekindling of the partnership, reports have stated that Street Vybz

Rum which was as a result of this partnership will be reintroduced to the market.  What does this mean for Yard Swag Rum, which Todd introduced to the market through Beenie Man, after his (Todd) fallout with Vybz Kartel?  Will Street Vybz take back its place on the shelf from Yard Swag?  Or can they both coexist?

Also we saw where with the ending of the Kartel/Todd partnership, Todd took on some other artists under his pavilion; some of which were at odds with Kartel.  What does this mean for those artists?  What about the club?  Will Beenie Man’s photo be replaced by Vybz Kartel’s photograph?  Or am I just reading too much into this?
