Hours after the sensational performance by the Indian cricket team in Chennai, down in Grenada, the West Indies won the second ODI match against a much-improved Zimbabwean side.
Records tumbled on the ‘Spice Isles’ as Dwayne Bravo, only in his second game as captain, took a record wicket-haul of 6 for 23 surpassing the late speedster Malcom Marshall. Apart from his quality medium pacers, Bravo led his team well with his usual charisma, aplomb and cricketing intelligence.
Undoubtedly, he was instrumental in Ramnaresh Sarwan’s comeback innings of 120 not out. The right-hander dubbed critics wrong by playing a classic knock punctuated by his favourite square cuts, pulls and lofted drives for fours and sixes.
In the end, he too achieved a milestone, scoring his highest one day century. Interestingly in all his innings to date, he has remained undefeated.
Of course, the challenge for the current Windies team is to maintain momentum with the hope of regaining the once supreme advantage in the ‘Gloria’s Game of Uncertainty’. http://au.eurosport.com/cricket/sarwan-powers-windies-to-series-win_sto3638372/story.shtml
