19TH December 2013 – The Black Comedy Awards 2013

JUST DAYS TO GO!!

‘COMEDY’S COMING HOME TO WEMBLEY’

The time is almost here for the BLACK COMEDY AWARDS 2013. This year will be a very special year; as it is the 10th anniversary of this prestigious event. Tiemo Entertainments are pleased to be hosting this event for a second time.

Of course, no awards ceremony would be complete without its much coveted nominees and the media. We would be honoured if you could attend the Black Comedy Awards 2013 to be held on Thursday 19th December 2013 at 7pm at Crystal Banqueting Hall, 1 Poppin Building, Southway, Wembley, Middlesex HA9 0HB.

Leading the way with an amazing FOUR nominations are QUINCY and Richard Blackwood. Quincy with nominations for Best Stand Up Host, Best Radio host, Best Selling DVD and Best Male Comedian. Richard is nominated for Best Male Comedian, Best Supporting Actor – Shrek, Best Comedy Play – Shrek and Best Stand-Up Comedy Show Host.

They are closely followed by Angie Le Mar and Meet The Adebanjos, all scoring a hat trick of nominations.

Angie Le Mar, putting her best foot forward ‘In my Shoes’ is nominated for ‘ Best Theatre Lead ‘In My Shoes’, ‘Best Web Series ‘The Ryan Sisters’ and Best Radio/TV Show Host ‘Ladies Talk’ on Vox Africa;

‘Meet the Adebanjo’s’ has three nominations for ‘Best Comedy Theatre’, ‘Best Web series’ and ‘Best Selling DVD’;

It’s an honour to see the late Felix Dexter make the short-list for ‘Best Male Comedian’ and it will be fascinating to see how voting goes in that category in the coming weeks. Will Felix receive a posthumous award for Best Male Comedian and/or will Felix make it a potential double and receive the ‘Lifetime achievement’ award?

In the international categories, Kevin Hart fared very well with nominations for Best Comedy Actor for ‘Think like a Man’ and two film nominations for Best Comedy Film with ‘Think like a Man’ and ‘Let me Explain’.

There will be performance from nominees Glenda Jaxson, Slim and a number of singers and other nominated comedians including Linda Hargreaves and from Kenya, Njambi McGrath.

This is also an opportunity to enjoy a great night of entertainment and meet comedians, entertainers and celebrities from a variety of industries – music, TV, business and sport. Refreshments will be available in the form of Caribbean food.

   2012 Winners Gina Yashere – Best International & Richard Blackwood – Best Actor

The Black Comedy Awards are the only event of its kind in the UK. Its primary objective is to celebrate and honour the very best in Black British and International stand-up comedy and comedic acting talent.

Please be aware that Tiemo Entertainments are developing the awards and exploring new avenues and categories.

The award winners are voted for by the general public by on-line web and calculations are produced by computer analysis, with a separate judging panel overseeing the process and if and where necessary, having a say in the final outcome.

A vigorous promotional campaign is now underway, which will include the process for voting and how to purchase tickets. Please do get fully involved and use any dynamic interventions you can think of to PROMOTE your favourite comedian and this celebratory event.

For press tickets please RSVP by 18th December via email to [email protected]

Deadlock

Deadlock was achieved for the very first time in these awards as two contestants were tied in the Best Female Comedienne and Best Web Series categories. A decision was taken to re-open the voting lines for a snap vote over the week-end of 14-15 December to help achieve clear winners in both categories.
