Jason Stanisclaus and Ray Roberts are the big winners of the 2011 national championship of the Grenada Table Tennis Association (GTTA).
Semifinal and final games in the tournament, sponsored by Excel Plaza, were played Monday evening at the headquarters of the Public Workers Union in Tanteen, St. George’s.
Stanisclaus, a table tennis coach employed with the Ministry of Sports, successfully defended the men’s singles’ title he won in 2010.
He played unbeaten in the championship. In the final on Monday, Stanisclaus won in straight sets – four games to none against Nigel St. John.
The battle for the veterans’ crown featured a contest between Roberts and Trevor Layne, two former national table tennis champions who represented Grenada at local and overseas tournaments.
Roberts defeated Layne three matches to one to emerge as the GTTA’s Excel Plaza 2011 veterans’ champion.
