Nigel
“My whole life going to Grenada growing up was the highlight of my childhood. I went to school in Brooklyn, New York. As soon as school was over in June, I was in Grenada until the end of August. So as a child your free time was mostly in the summer and that time was spent in Grenada for me, with my family – I have a lot of cousins my age – and friends. I did it all, swimming, playing sports (basketball, football, cricket etc.).”
That’s why my Grenadian heritage is so important to me, the best of my boyhood days were spent in Grenada.
He is a well rounded individual who can attest his up bringing to that of the streets of Flatbush (Brooklyn,NY) and Grenada. Not a product of his environment Nigel always stood aside from the rest and saw his life apart from the streets that seemed to suck the youth in the area into a dark hole.
Going to Edward Murrow high school, he was afforded the opportunity to extend his educational prowess in a prestigious school that was ranked second best in the city during his years of attendance at the school.
However, he always had a passion for basketball and utilizing his God given ability in the sport. He got the opportunity to play college basketball and then moved on to become a professional basketball player.
Nigel saw education as an important part of his future and successfully attained two degrees, an Associates Degree in Hotel Tourism and Management with a concentration in Culinary Arts and a Bachelors degree in Communications in Advertising and Promotions.
One of his passions is to give back to the community specifically reaching the youth. He has engaged in, as well as set up various clinics for the youth teaching life skills and basketball tips all over the five boroughs, in addition to Grenada.
Nigel attributes his success to his strong faith in God.
