Miss Yearwood captured the title of Festival Queen from a field of five beautiful contestants who, it must be said, all performed admirably infront of a packed Festival City, at Little Bay, Montserrat. There was little sign of nervousness as Miss Yearwood executed her skills in the various categories with purpose.
Miss Yearwood also captured the prizes for Miss Photogenic, she was tied with Maggie Destouche for Best Introduction & Promotional Speech but she went on to capture the prizes for Best Cultural Presentation, Best Talent and Best Evening Wear.
The other contestants in the 2011 Festival Queen Pageant were, Maggie Destouche who was the 1st Runner Up and Best Swimwear, Tiffany Ryan who was the second Runner Up, Nathalia Durand who captured the title of Miss Congeniality and Best Question & Answer and the final contestant was Juslyn Fenton.
The evening was carried over with precision and character by two very able hosts in the persons of Mr Basil Chambers and Mrs Lorraine Nanton-Lewis. The interaction and light banter between the hosts contributed to the overall flow of the evening and was a welcomed addition to the performances of the ladies on the night.
Several side acts also contributed to the evening’s flow with many mostly performing songs, either as a soloist, a duet or as a group.
Special note must be given to the organisers of the 2011 Festival Queen Pageant, Tropical Productions. The team clearly put thought, planing and a great degree of effort into ensuring that the ensemble that made up the stage setting was done so as to reflect the nature of the event patrons were viewing. Congratulations are in order to the team for at least making that attempt to raise the bar.
The newly crowned Festival Queen, Claris Yearwood, will reign for a year before relinquishing the crown a lucky lady next year. Congratulations to the new Queen and also to all the other contestants who took part in the pageant.
