Caribbean news. Miss Teen Caribbean UK hosted their first ever Caribbean Cultural showcase in schools on January 29th 2014. The showcase which featured current Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK Queen Karimah Farrell and Miss Commonwealth Caribbean UK 2012 Chanise Thompson had over 100 students in attendance. The day, which aimed to promote Caribbean Culture amongst a younger Caribbean diaspora was filled with activities and special performances.

The first sessions had all students researching different Caribbean Islands and showcasing their findings to win a prize and become the Ultimate Island. At the end, there could only be One winner and the Island of Bahamas, Lead by Mentor Chanise Thompson came first place. Second place went to Barbados lead by Sherika Miller and Third place went to Trinidad and Tobago lead by Karimah Farrell. All judging was done by the Teachers of the Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College for Girls.

In the second session, Award winning dance group MoneyWheel ENT performed and was a huge crowd favorite amongst the teen group. Simon Small of Sunshakes Limited provided free Sunshakes drinks for all the students which they loved!

The atmosphere was fun and educational, with students getting involved and performing songs and dance as part of their showcase. One of the youngest mentors on the Miss Teen Caribbean UK team was Letisha Mchayle who lead a group of 15 teenage students, representing the Island of Jamaica. Other outstanding mentors included Vice President of Miss Teen Caribbean UK Shanice Segre who lead the Guyana, MUA Karen Messam from Karenpamperuperfect and Stephanie Clarke mentored the group representing the Island of St. Lucia.
