There are so many adjectives and no more that we can use to describe a person. However, when it comes to Lionel Messi there is never enough that we can use to describe him. He is just incredible!! Yes, he has scored a lot of goals but the important thing is the manner in which he has scored his goals.
Most persons will agree with me when I say that football is a very simple game; however Messi exemplifies this statement. There is nothing extremely spectacular about what he does; he just does it on a consistent basis. And this is precisely what sets him apart from his other contemporaries; his ability to replicate his consistent performance game after game in all departments.
I remember a couple of years ago there was a silly comparison between Messi and Christiano Ronaldo. I use the word “silly’ carefully because they have two different playing styles. Let me first say that I think that Ronaldo is an extremely talented player and most deserving of all the praises that he gets; except of course the one about him and Messi being in the same league. This is where I drew the line. And luckily for me I don’t even need to defend my point because the last couple of years have already proven my point.
Nonetheless, I am a huge fan of Ronaldo especially since he is no longer representing Manchester United! Also, I think that his being at Real Madrid is really helping him to develop professionally.
Ok, I think that is enough for Ronaldo; back to Messi. The real set back in his career has been the fact that he has not been able to perform in an Argentinean side. I mean when he is performing for Barcelona it is like he is a god who cannot do anything wrong. However, in an Argentinean uniform we see that he is just a man with flaws.
So the real question is: does that take away from his career. I am of the opinion that it does not but I know some persons will disagree with me. But when a man scores five goals in a single match… it goes without saying. Messi is definitely the chosen one!!
