As London celebrates Team GB’s biggest medal haul for over 100 years, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson is backing free events and other attractions across the capital as part of Mayor of London Presents, the biggest festival of outdoor arts the city has ever seen.
The Mayor of London Boris Johnson says: ‘As the country basks in the fabulous success of our Olympic heroes, we want Londoners and visitors to the capital to enjoy the best that our city has to offer. As well as world-class theatre, museums and galleries, there’s unbeatable shopping and dining throughout the city and we’re hosting an unprecedented series of free events in every corner of the capital. From thrilling sporting action on giant screens in Hyde Park and Victoria Park, to exciting live performance, street theatre and music on high streets, in parks and town centres, this is truly a summer like no other.’

GIGS – BIG BUSK
This summer hundreds of young singers and musicians aged 11-25 will be making London their stage in the city’s biggest ever street music competition. There are 150 acts performing at 30 locations across London until 25 August. The public can watch their videos and vote for them at www.molpresents/gigs/vote. The acts with the most votes will automatically go through to the live Grand Final on Saturday 1 September at Westfield London This week, look out for our competitors performing at the following locations:

Handpicked from across the world, it features an electrifying mix of artists, encompassing the best of British street arts, international performers including Catalan, Chinese Belgian, French and Dutch artists, plus a feast of music from beat box to electro swing. Look out also for 99 Tiny Games, quirky social activities that have been created for every London borough, and local outdoor film screenings in unexpected places, from community gardens to skate parks. Tower Bridge, plus seven of London’s most famous bridges will light up in a dazzling display of colour to celebrate the 50 evenings of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
WONDER: INCREDIBLE INSALLATIONS

As you walk around London this summer, look out for Gifts from the Olympic Gods: Shot Put – giant replica of an Olympic shot put measures an impressive 3m across and appears as if partially embedded in the ground; Javelin – this 10m-long replica of an Olympic javelin is in surprising places across London; Bow and Arrows – this 7m long replica Olympic archery bow alongside five matching arrows. Other installations include House of Flags – 206 colourful panels in Parliament Square representing the flags of each country taking part in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Designed by AY Architects, Yeoryia Manolopoulou and Anthony Boulanger.
STROLL: DISCOVERY TRAILS

The Mayor wants Londoners and tourists to explore the best of what the city has to offer. Stroll features the Olympic and Paralympic mascots Wenlock and Mandeville, in a range of livery mirroring their surroundings, as your guides to some of capital’s favourite landmarks and attractions.
