Gardenia

GardeniaI would like to thank David for hosting me as a guest blogger, as part of the virtual book tour celebration for my debut novel, Becoming Me. In this blog post I share my thoughts on living life to the fullest.

I am sure you are familiar with this cliché and have probably heard people around you say how they are making big plans for their fortieth birthday. Plans such as losing a certain amount of weight and getting that perfect body, to a total makeover with hair, wardrobe and all, taking that trip or planning a spectacular party, or hosting an event to celebrate and commence the beginning of life for them. Yes many of us are guilty of this, waiting for that magical number of age forty so we can begin to “live”.

But who says you will make it to forty? That you will be in the current state of health to enable you to do the things you have planned? Live life. Tomorrow or the very next moment in your life is not guaranteed. The only time you have is NOW. Life begins NOW. Today is the only day you have and the best day to make those changes, reach those goals that you have long placed on the shelf, waiting for that magical number.Gardenia

Some of us have other age driven goals for ourselves. The main character in “Becoming Me” set the age of thirty five for herself, where she outlined a number of things she would want to accomplish by that age. She informs us that thirty five has always been that momentous year for her. However, she wasn’t simply waiting for age thirty five. Rather she set goals that she wished to accomplish by this age.

There is nothing wrong with setting age specific goals, however because of the uncertainty of life we should treat each day as precious and then grasp the opportunities for fulfilling dreams and becoming you.  Today is the only time you have. Now is the only time you are guaranteed; so stop putting off living until forty, thirty five or any other age and begin to live now!   Count each day as a blessing; see it as an opportunity given to you to do what you did not do yesterday. Yes, there may be limitations, but do what you can today, with the time that you are given.  Learn to dance now, lose that weight now, be fabulous now, live now! Life begins today!

Are you waiting for 40?
