Caribbean news. Following the life sentences issued to entertainer Vybz Kartel and his three co accused, fans of the entertainer have moved to Digicel’s Facebook fan page to voice their disgust at the telecommunications company; referring to the company as an informer and threatening to switch from the telecoms provider to their, competitor, Lime. There were also death threats issued by some fans on the Digicel Facebook fan page.
The posts ranged from calling the telecoms provider a sell out to warnings for them to “watch themselves.
One post stated “You guys are sell outs, I hope everyone switch to LIME! World Boss get life in prison, yall can celebrate now.”
Another said, “We the people in Jamaica, we bun informer and cut off dem head and hide it where it can’t be found…..watch unnuh self”
These are just a few of the posts. The others are even more alarming and as a result could not be quoted here.

Some members of the fan page, however came out in support of the telecoms provider, stating that Digicel had no choice but to hand over the text message and other evidence taken from the cell phones of Vybz Kartel and his co accused.
The text messages retrieved from Vybz Kartel’s cell phone played an integral role in the prosecution’s case against him, in the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. A representative from Digicel also took the stand in the trial, as a prosecution witness.
This latest development came as a result of Vybz Kartel and his four co accused being sentenced to life in prison. Vybz Kartel was given life in prison and hard labour and would not be eligible for parole before 35 years and Shawn Storm, not eligible for parole before 25 years.
