I Can’t take The Beating But I’m Afraid To Go To The Police. Please Help!

Dear Authentic Chick,

I don’t know if you are aware that the green gold of the Caribbean is the famous plant – marijuana. It is my understanding that the marijuana grown in St. Vincent is probably the best. I didn’t quite understand what I was getting into but nonetheless, my grandfather had some lands available and I began planting. This incident that I am telling you about happened a few months ago.

I was able to get enough plants dried and had them stored at an old building. After the Soufriere erupted and things settled down to a new normal, one of my relatives decided that he and a few of his friends were going to steal and at least one woman and himself stole nearly all of my cured marijuana. I set a trap for them one night but they didn’t return that night.

Eventually, the woman and myself had a fist fight and I was beaten soundly. Yes, I am not afraid to say so. She put some lashes on my skin and this hurt my pride badly. I have a black eye and every part of my back has been hurting for days. I got a cut on my left hand and I am not sure how that happened. I swear that I just pelt blows in the dark room when the incident happened.

So, I am thanking my son right now who is writing to you what I am dictating to him. I was given back most of what she and my relative stole from me. The marijuana is selling really good but the price could be better. They promised that they are going to run me out of that area and I am in hiding.

I scarcely go on the block with the boys these days because I am truly afraid for my safety. I know you may think that I am one who is soft at heart but I am also afraid to go to the police. A few minutes ago to be honest, the woman called me and threatened to beat me up if I mentioned that she had beaten me up. It is humiliating at best.

Sincerely,

Distressed in St. Vincent and the Grenadines

Dearest Distressed,

I am not just laughing that you were beaten up by a woman, but yeah, you were beaten by a woman and you must have deserved those blows. How could you fight with a woman in a dark room? Was it past midnight? See, as a woman I took karate lessons and could defend myself real good. But in your situation, your marijuana was stolen, some was brought back and on top of that, you were beaten by a woman and you are in hiding.

Man, I am sorry for you. I thought St. Vincent was a law abiding place where you can go and make a complaint at the police station. I had to place a call sometime ago to a friend of mine there and he was telling me that if a man tries to make a complaint against a woman, he is usually laughed at by the police officers!

Man, I am sad to hear this because there are several women who are very vocal about domestic violence and all that. I am not trying to justify anything but I am begging you to report that woman for your own peace of mind. Who is she? Ask yourself the question as to why you are afraid of a woman who could get your number and call to intimidate you further. Please, alternatively, get in touch with your relative and possibly an Elder in your community to see if you all can settle this matter speedily.

I saw in the newspapers online a few days ago, that there has been a spike in violence within recent times. You are NOT to add to this and please. St. Vincent is supposed to be a lovely place in which to live but this matter of a man getting licks like this from a woman! I really feel sorry for you. To your son, I must say that you are not to laugh at your Dad or try to take revenge on this woman that he may have identified already.

Also, the relative who chose this woman as his accomplice, they should be ashamed of themselves. Somehow, I am thinking that they meant to humiliate you since they returned the cured marijuana. If it is that you have another place for storage, please secure the product  which is marijuana grown for medicinal purposes. Good luck

Always,

Authentic Chick
